BakerI want to thank Kyle Martin for sitting down with us to tell his amazing story of survival.
It’s not everyday that you hear about a pilot and his passenger walking away from a crash into a mountain. But Kyle and Kelly did.
It was a peaceful Saturday afternoon… just before dusk, the two were taking pictures in the North Cascades around Mt. Baker. They decided to turn around and head home… when they spotted some injured snowmobilers at about 8000ft. They needed help so Kyle decided to orchestrate an airdrop to get them survival gear and supplies. They made the drop… and ill let him explain what happened next.

If you don’t live in Western Washington, it may not feel as big of a deal. But 5″ in Lake Stevens is a winter wonderland.
These driveways didn’t shovel themselves! I would have love to have taken a photo of the team effort put in by me and my neighbors to clear everyones driveway in one blast. But we were too busy clearing. 8 houses in all. Find someone’s driveway to clear and make their day. I love my neighbors.

This time, it took an episode of ‘Glee’ to do the slapping. (yes, I occasionally watch Glee when my DVR is empty of left over 60 minutes episodes and random Sunday afternoon movies)
Just like Fin, I wanted an I-Pad 2. But ive quickly come to realize that the best things in life are not $500, paper thin and hold 16Gb worth of stuff i can live without.
Its about passing a few bucks to the guy standing along Mercer on my way home from work. Its about applauding the Mariachi band under the Space Needle for a few songs when no one else did. And better yet, its about watching the smile of the woman behind in line today after I paid for her coffee when she didn’t expect it. Everything I gave today wasn’t worth $500. But when you think about it, why does it need to be.
I’m filled with Glee again this Christmas.

Macy’s let us up on their roof to get some video and talk to Jerry the facilities manager who flips the switch.
The star is 161 feet tall and holds 3800 small 7 watt bulbs. The center light is 1000 watt Hallide bulb.
From up here you get a great view of Westlake Park and the surrounding downtown area.
Mimi Jung did a story on the original creator of the star who started the holiday star lighting tradition…50 years ago!
